Today I bring you something completely different, something I would probably never have looked twice at – Japanese art. Now I know it’s a massive culture of traditional printing techniques and intricate details to tell stories but I just never looked at it and went WOW! But now I have thanks to good old Patternbank. Hello this is me FINALLY reviewing October’s Box from Papergang. Long story short working full time hours whilst trying to organise moving to a different city and combine that with a postal service leads to things being forgotten. Anyway enough of my terrible excuses it’s Papergang time! This month was filled with stationery covered in pretty illustrated animals featuring artists Maddy Vian and Gemma Correll.
I came across this artist on the encyclopedia of great gifts and art that is Society6 and quite frankly I know nothing about him or her. I was drawn to the 80’s feel of all the designs on various mediums such as cushions, phone cases, prints and clocks.
What I love about art, design and general pretty stuff is how passionate people can be when creating such inspirational pieces. When you can see someone enjoying themselves it oozes from their work and that’s definitely what I see in Bunnie (Bonnie) Reiss.
